It's not too early....Spring Garden #1

I think that no matter how old or infirm I may become, I will always plant a large garden in the spring. Who can resist the feelings of hope and joy that one gets from participating in nature's rebirth? ~Edward Giobbi

Bart just finished a gardening course from a local Master Gardener. We are hoping to have some kind of fabulous garden this year. I ordered a book called Fresh: The Ultimate Live Food Cookbook, in anticipation. Not that we are so into raw foods, but we sure love a fresh meal from the garden. With our short growing season, I'm glad we are starting early this year. We finally had the time on Saturday to till and plant.

Our Spring crop will include radishes, beets, a varied lettuce salad mix, spinach, peas, and various herbs. Here is a picture of our garden right now...covered in a new snow which will provide the first irrigation.

And, evidence of budding on our favorite tree, the Star Magnolia...

Isn't Spring great!

Ohhhhhhh, Spring....can you teach me all you've learned? How wonderful! We've planted peas, carrots, spinach, and lettuce. There's just nothing like Spring gardening, is there? I just wish my vigor would last into July and August! I seem to burn out in the heat. Love your pictures!
